How We Facilitate Partnerships

Transport is committed to continually enhancing features on the Open Data Platform while also exploring innovative ways to leverage data through collaborations and data partnerships. These efforts deliver significant positive outcomes for passengers, communities, and the broader transport ecosystem. Transport for NSW fosters partnerships and collaboration through various initiatives:

  • Reciprocal Data Sharing Partnerships

Transport establishes partnerships that involve the reciprocal exchange of data, enriching information and driving improved outcomes across the transport sector.

  • Collaboration Through Open Data

Transports Open Data program provides over 200 datasets to developers, industry, and academia, enabling the creation of more than 5,000 applications that enhance mobility services and customer experiences.

  • Co-Design and Innovation Initiatives

Transport actively engages with communities, industry, and academia through co-design workshops, innovation challenges, and hackathons to collaboratively solve problems and develop creative solutions.

  • Data Partnerships with Industry and Academia

Transport collaborates with industry and academic partners to discover and utilise data that supports innovation in digital products, technologies, and systems.

  • Supporting Local Planning

Using data-driven insights, Transport collaborates with local councils and other stakeholders to support infrastructure planning, such as prioritising cycleway development and enhancing freight movement efficiency.

  • Enterprise Data Sharing

Transport can facilitate requests for data under an agreed arrangement, preparing datasets of interest that may not already be on the Open Data roadmap. This ensures that different enterprises have access to tailored data solutions to meet their specific needs.

  • Whole-of-Government Collaboration

Transport contributes to shared data initiatives like the NSW Spatial Twin and national safety and freight data hubs, helping achieve state-level goals for integrated, data-informed decision-making.

  • Data Stories

Through case studies, we showcase how industry, academia, developers, and government bodies are using Transport Open Data to create innovative solutions and drive meaningful community benefits.
