Introduction
The Road Trip Innovation Challenge was launched in September 2021, asking innovators to come up with digital solutions that help people navigate our Tourist Drives to encourage people travel and boost local economies.and get the most out of tourist road trips in NSW after two years of restricted travel.
From many interesting submissions, two were chosen to progress through the challenge: Gourmakers and CamperMate, which then have completed their incubation phases and launched their products.
How we are making data accessible
Tourist signs are posted in NSW and have a white legend on a brown background and indicate to drivers & riders features or places that are major tourist attractions.
The NSW Tourist Routes dataset includes the geospatial files of the road segments which are considered to be "tourist roads" in the Transport for NSW datastore.
The Transport Open Data Hub also has a variety of Road and Speed Data and Electric Vehicle Charging Stations NSW to aid in road trip planning.

Gourmakers
Gourmakers will help you find the best gourmet venues to visit on your next Australian road trip, making it easy to plan a route that includes Australia’s best beverage producers and gourmet food venues. Search for nearby venues, find gourmet producers along your chosen road trip route, and access venue information including accessibility and opening hours.

CamperMate
CamperMate is a free camping and travel app packed with camping and RV-specific information to help customers find everything they need while on the road in Australia and New Zealand.
The app features more than 100,000 points of interest including campgrounds, petrol, ATMs, public showers and more.
The app contains thousands of tips from other travellers, and allows you to book campsites, accommodation and activities from within the app.
