Introduction
Transport Park&Ride car parks are designed to free-up more spaces at commuter car parks for those who want to travel on public transport. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to metro, train, bus and ferry services. Customers can park for up to 18 hours free each day with a valid public transport trip using an Opal card, or a credit/debit card that is linked with a Transport Connect account.
Park&Ride real-time parking availability is now available from various apps and online platforms, allowing customers to see how many vacant parking spaces are available at Park&Ride car parks to help better plan their trip.
How we are making data accessible
Transport and the Park&Ride Program have combined data feeds from multiple providers into an Application Programming Interface (API) that can be integrated into customer facing products. Car park occupancy data is collected using smart parking systems installed in Park&Ride car parks. The data is then made publicly available on Transport for NSW’s Open Data Hub. By accessing the Transport Open Data Car Park API third-party websites and apps can access real-time and historical occupancy data for Transport Park&Ride car parks.
Benefits for our customers
Information regarding available spaces is made available on transportnsw.info, the Live Traffic website and digital apps such as AnyTrip . Commuters use these sources to check the status of car parks and identify if spaces are available enabling them to make informed decision regarding the best options for their trip.
