Opal Tap Data provides aggregated travel activity for key commercial centres across Greater Sydney and regional NSW, including journey dates and tap-on/tap-off counts for train, bus, ferry, and light rail services from January 2020 onwards.
The dataset combines Opal card and Contactless Transport Payment (CTP) data. Near real-time data is updated every 15 minutes for the previous two days, while complete daily data is refreshed every four days. Minor variations in trip counts may occur as additional source data becomes available.
Note: Data variations may occur due to incomplete or unavailable source data at the time of extraction, as well as the four-day refresh cycle.
