About the Challenge

For the Road Trip Innovation Challenge, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) challenged innovators to come up with digital solutions to help people navigate our Tourist Drives and get the most out of tourist road trips in NSW. Two challenge statements were posed: 

1. Create a digital solution that improves the tourism and road trip experience in NSW

2. Create or enhance data related to road trips that can be published as Open Data

A virtual information session was held on Wednesday 8 September, providing interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the challenge, what’s on offer, and ask questions about the process. A recording of the information session is available at the bottom of this page, along with a copy of the slides. From NSW Oyster shacks to Victorian berry farms, Gourmakers will help you find the best gourmet venues to visit on your next Australian road trip, making it easy to plan a route that includes Australia’s best beverage producers and gourmet food venues.  Australia has incredible produce and Gourmakers is the app that will help you plan your next Australian road trip.  Search for nearby venues, find gourmet producers along your chosen road trip route, and access venue information including accessibility and opening hours.  You can can also create shortlists for upcoming trips and leave in-app reviews for visited venues.

CamperMate is a free camping and travel app packed with camping and RV-specific information to help customers find everything they need while on the road in Australia and New Zealand. ​  The app features more than 100,000 points of interest including campgrounds, petrol, ATMs, public showers and more.   The app contains thousands of tips from other travellers, and allows you to book campsites, accommodation and activities from within the app. CamperMate is a great tool for independent travellers and roadtrippers including families, retirees, young couples, digital nomads and adventures.
